Walt: match metaphors with their meaning in sport and nonsport activities

All of the room 8 students were split into groups of three. I was with Andrea and Stephanie. The game that we had to play was that we had to match the meanings to the metaphors. The writing target group had already played the game. So those who knew how to play the game had to sit aside and watch the others figure out which goes where. It was challenging for those who didn’t know how to play but they did get there in end.

Alien angles

Alien angles

This is a game called alien angles. To play this game you have to find an angle that is given so that we can rescue the alien. To play this game you will need a protractor. When you have found the angle that is given then you probably find an alien and rescue it. I did enjoy playing this game and I will play it again.

Decorating mufins with patterns

Decorating muffins with patterns

In class, we were given a challenge and that challenge was to create the best pattern designs for our muffins. My one turn out to look like a windmill with raisins on top of the kiwi fruit. Everyone trying to keep their fruits in place. Then it was time to judge who's muffin design was the best. Mrs Donaldson had chosen the 5 best designs. It was so hard to choose who's was the best and then Nick came in to choose. The winner was Ketura and she was given some nuts and raisins. Next I want to learn more about algebra.

Just visitors

Just visitors

This Tuesday afternoon, Dreydon and Kate visited our class. Dreydon had walked 80 km under 24 hours and raised over $5000. Our school received $4,600 from Dreydon and the team. Dreydon and Kate also shared a presentation with the class.

First, Dreydon and Kate explained what happened on the walk. The thunder and rain was interrupting the walk, but that did stop them. Others on the walk were enjoying the view, the beautiful beaches and sometimes a clear blue sky. Dreydon then showed the equipment that was used on the walk. There was a headtorch, camel pack and a beacon to signal a helicopter if they were lost. Pictures were also brought up of Dreydon and the crew doing the 80 km walk in the dark of the night.

Then Dreydon questioned us if we had a goal but the goal we came up with was about sports camp. He then asked us to get in a group and work out a goal that we can successfully achieve, but the goals we had to set had to be S.M.A.R.T ( Specific, Measureable, Achieved, Relevant, Time bound ).

Lastly, Dreydon and Kate were ready to leave but Mrs Ramkolowan offered to take a picture of the class with Dreydon and Kate. Dreydon inspired me to walk 80km walk or less than that if I had the chance to.

Car patterns

Car patterns

Today I was playing a game of patterns called car patterns. I had to find out what pattern of cars had to go into the empty yellow square and the white box shows what car goes into the correct box. I did struggle at the start because I didn't get how the game worked but then I got the hang of it.
